What I collect

I only collect information that is necessary to operate and improve the site.

• Analytics: I use Google Analytics and similar tools to understand traffic, page views, device/browser information, and general visitor behavior. This helps me see which posts are useful and which parts of the site are confusing.
• Contact and newsletter activity: If you email me, use a contact form, or subscribe to updates, I may collect your name, email address, and the message you send.
• Technical information: I may also record basic technical details such as browser type, operating system, location at a general regional level, and referral source.

How I use it

I use this information to improve the site, understand what readers care about, respond to email or inquiries, and send occasional updates if you subscribe.

I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information for marketing purposes. I also do not have a user registration system that tracks your personal profile across the site.

Cookies and third-party services

This site may use cookies and third-party services such as Google Analytics, Google AdSense, social embeds, and newsletter tools. These services may collect data according to their own privacy policies and settings.

Where required (for example, visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), a consent banner lets you choose whether analytics and ad personalization cookies are allowed before they run. You can change your choice at any time using the link in the footer.

Blog post comments are powered by a self-hosted comment system (Artalk) that I run. If you leave a comment, it stores your nickname, email address, optional website URL, IP address, and browser user agent. Your email is used only to generate a Gravatar image and to notify you of replies — it is never displayed publicly. Comments are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused spam-prevention check.

This site also uses CloudFilt, a bot-protection service, to help keep automated abuse off forms and other request paths. CloudFilt inspects request metadata (such as your IP address and basic request details) to distinguish real visitors from bots; this is security processing necessary to keep the site available and safe, not advertising or analytics.

If you prefer, you can disable cookies in your browser or use browser privacy controls to limit tracking. You can also unsubscribe from email updates at any time using the link in the message you receive.

I may link to other sites, projects, social profiles, or resources. Those external websites have their own privacy and security practices, and I am not responsible for their content or handling of your data.

Data retention

I keep contact and newsletter information only as long as needed to respond to inquiries, manage subscriptions, or meet reasonable business needs. If you want your information removed, contact me and I will take reasonable steps to address it.
